Camino Portugués (the Portuguese Way) is the pilgrimage way to the tomb of St. James in Santiago de Compostela, starting from Lisboa in Portugal. From Porto the Camino split into the coastal route and the central route, later joining in Redondela in Spain. The Camino again splits after Pontevedra, where the pilgrims has the choice of walking the spiritual variant, joining the central route in Pontecesures. This route also has the option of doing the translatio route by boat from Vilanova de Arousa, instead of walking.
Camino Real de Invierno (the Winter Way) is an alternative route to the Camino Frances (the French Way), starting from Ponferrada. This was the route some pilgrims used to go during the harsh times of winter to evade the hard climb over O Cebreiro. This route joins the Via de la Plata (the Silver Way) in A Laxe.
Camino de Finisterre (the End of the World Way) is an extension route to the Camino de Santiago (all routes in short) that allows the pilgrims to walk to Finisterre, which are associated with the myth of St. James. There is also an additional route going to Muxía.
Camino Inglés (the English Way) is a shorter pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela, going either from Ferrol (the most popular option) or A Coruña (less popular, not eligible for the Compostela). This was the route British pilgrims were using after crossing the sea.
In the fall of 2018 I went to Portugal and Spain to walk those four Caminos, here you will find my tale:
